Benefits of Wall Tapestries ~ Poppies of Toscano

Friday, May 14th, 2010

When we talk of wall decor, undoubtedly the images of lavish, decorative, finely woven tapestries dance before our eyes. The history of these tapestries dates back long from the Hellenistic times. They have undergone many changes along with the modernization. But still, each one is a masterpiece in its own way. A beautiful wall tapestry, Poppies of Toscano is fine. They are not only versatile but also easily portable and come in a plethora of themes, designs, patterns, style (be it Belgium, Europe, French, Italian and American) and size (small, medium, large and huge). Hence, they can suit all your moods and adorn any wall, be it your living room, bedroom or office. (more…)

The Arbicola Bonsai Is Quite Easy to Care For

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

If you’re looking for a very nice indoor bonsai tree that won’t be too difficult to care for or grow, then you may want to get an arbicola bonsai. This bonsai, also called the shefflera arbicola, is one of the most versatile bonsai around, and it’s so hardy that you can put it through some serious abuse and still bring it back. Of course, it’s much better if you remember to water it and keep it in an area where it gets good sunlight. When fully grown, the arbicola bonsai will reach heights of 20 to 30 inches tall, making it one of the larger bonsai around. Remember that while this bonsai is pretty hardy and is easy to care for, it’s also an indoor bonsai, so don’t let it get too cold. (more…)

A Water filter that filters your doubts about suspicious water

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

If you care about your health as much as I do then I am sure that you must have faced situations where you decided to stay thirsty rather than drink suspicious water. I have to travel quite frequently so the water filter is a necessity for me. I am a believer of the saying that precaution is better than cure. You don’t want to fall ill for days when you could have easily avoided that by using water filters. (more…)

The Value of Metal & Vinyl Sheds

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

My sister had been struggling because of a divorce and was forced to move her and the kids into a smaller home to make ends meet. It looked like a storage unit in several rooms since they didn’t have enough room to unpack everything and she asked me if I could help her come up with an inexpensive solution. After looking around a bit I discovered that for the price, you can’t beat metal sheds. She was able to buy a medium metal shed and she used that until she got back on her feet. (more…)

The Skinny on Little Giraffe Baby Blankets

Monday, April 20th, 2009

Little Giraffe baby blankets have received a lot of media attention thanks to numerous celebrity endorsements.  But what is behind the hype?  Here is my review of their most popular baby blankets, the Little Giraffe chenille blanket.  This blanket is 29 by 35 inches, which is a standard length for receiving or “all-purpose” blankys.   The fabric is a microfiber blend woven into a soft chenille.  Microfiber is indeed softer than cotton can ever be, so Little Giraffe is not boasting with their claims to the “softest baby blanket ever.”   This warm fabric is contrasted with a satin border in a variety of complementary colors. Remington the Well Read Cat Throw

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

American artist Charles Wysocki is famous for his folk art paintings of American scenes as well as his endearing series of portraits of cat characters. In Remington the Well Read Cat Throw, the handsome orange tabby has invaded the library shelves for to have a nap. Books have been dislodged to make room and now he sleeps soundly, his head pillowed on an overturned book. Remington is joined on the shelf below by an elegant grey cat, also asleep, his chin resting on a book. The leather bound books are in every shape and hue, all showing loving wear and tear. The titles bring in Wysocki’s sense of fun: The Wizard of Paws, A Few Good Mice, A Separate Cheese. This appealing picture has now been reproduced as a lush cotton throw. A Wysocki cat throw is the perfect way to add warmth and cheer to your favorite room. It’s sure to delight any cat lover on your list. (more…)

Crackle Glass Candle Lanterns

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

I just found some really neat crackle glass candle lanterns online and it got me wondering just what the heck crackle glass is.  What I found out is that crackle glass is made by taking a cylinder of molten glass and dipping it in water.  The outside of the glass cracks but the inside – because it’s insulated from that sudden temperature change – stays solid.  They then take the whole cylinder and slit the side, open it up and roll it flat.  That takes the crackle texture and rolls it into the whole piece of glass. Use a Round Area Rug for a Cheap Decoration Solution

Monday, October 6th, 2008

Whatever your interior decorating style, the type of flooring you have will have a major impact on the rest of the room.  Along with walls, the floor is the largest area of a room, so you can use it to show off your own sense of style. If you are putting new flooring down, give some thought to the practicality of your choice – is it a high traffic area for example, or are you looking for comfort? A great way to protect the floor underneath is to use rugs and runners throughout the house. They come in all shapes and sizes, though I like to lay a round area rug in front of a couch. They can also be used under a table, in hallways and they can also be used to visually define a zone in a multipurpose room.  (more…)

Patio Planting

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

If you are looking for reasonable planters for your patio, deck, sunroom or home; natural cedar planters are a great way to go.  I have found that cedar is an amazing natural material that holds up much better than other natural woods. These planters are not only durable, but are truly beautiful as well and you can get them in custom sizes if the 15″ x 15″ x 15 ¾” is not big enough.  I also love the choice of a vertical or diagonal side to mix it up a bit.
