Balance Fitness 101
What is the first thing you think of when you hear the word balance? Well to some they may think of a sneaker company. Some may think of gymnasts while those in the financial world may think about their balance sheet. And to those who are health conscious might think of energy bars made by a company that is called Balance. The balance board is both a recreational and professional balance fitness device that helps the user gain better stability training. If you can image a seesaw then you can get an idea what a balance board looks like only this board you stand on with both feet. It’s purpose is to challenge your muscles to help you gain strength in the lower body especially in your legs.
Of course using a balance board is not something that is going to be easy for the beginner. Yes elderly people would benefit greatly from balance training but should seek the help of a professional trainer. Because of the instability of the board a user could easily fall off if one is not use to quick shifts of direction the board will do once on it. Yes you can hold onto something secure at first until you feel comfortable, but with the help of a trained professional you may avoid injury or disappointment in this type of exercise.
